Tanning Prep Information

To ensure the best tanning experience please read the following.

1) Exfoliate. *Exfoliation must be done at least 6 hours before spray tan appointment. *

If pores do not have time to close, the tanning solution will pool up on the skin and collect in the open pores. Leaving little black dots all over the skin

- Dead skin cells build up over time. If you have a thick layer of dead skin, the tan will dissipate more quickly. By exfoliating, the upper layers of skin become thinner, therefore your tan will last longer. Be sure your exfoliant doesn’t contain any oils. Oils prevent the tanning solution from getting to your skin by creating a barrier. It is important that you shower/exfoliate at least 4 hours prior to your appointment. As showering opens up the pores of the skin.

2) No Deodorant, moisturizer or makeup before spray tan.

- Just like oils; deodorants, moisturizers, and makeup create a barrier between the skin and tanning solution. These products will prevent the solution from soaking into the skin, which will cause your tan to fade unevenly or look blotchy.

3) Shaving or waxing

- Must be done one or two days before your spray tan appointment.

- Waxing/Shaving 2 days prior to your appointment will give your pores time to close. Otherwise the solution will settle into the open pores and create a “spotty” effect. If you are waxing make sure you remove all wax residue.

4) What to wear during your tanning session?

• People tan nude and others do not. If you feel more comfortable covering up, that is completely fine. Most importantly, want you to feel comfortable. With that said, I’ve seen it all, so if you prefer to tan in the buff, that’s totally acceptable. If you do choose to cover up, remember. Anything you wear during the spray tan should be black and will leave behind a tan line.

5) Wear loose clothing after your tanning session.

- Although your are dry after your session, the tan needs to “set”, this process will take about 8 hours. To make sure your tan doesn’t rub off or cause any imperfections, It’s best to bring LOOSE fitting clothes and shoes to wear after your session. For example a loose dress, flip-flops, sweat pants (without a tight cinch), big t-shirt, etc.

Aftercare for Your Tan

Let your tan set!

As stated in the Tanning Preparation Information, your tan needs to set. This process will take up to 8 hours and will continue to develop afterward. Continue to wear loose clothing and avoid exercising, sweating, swimming, or bathing for approximately 8 hours.

Showering

When showering do not use any exfoliation, instead use your hand and body wash to clean the tanning bronzer from the skin. Don’t worry this isn’t washing off your tan, just the color guide (bronzer). Remember, after your shower do not rub the skin with your towel, but rather to pat it dry.

Moisturize

Apply moisturizer or body butter twice a day to extend the life of the tan. This prevents natural exfoliation, which will gradually diminish your tan.

You are more than welcome to exfoliate, just know that it will shorten the length of the tan.
